Can ALL those people REALLY be wrong? Here’s Just Ten Random Alien Abduction Claims!
There have been thousands of claims of alien abductions, with further evidence to suggest that these abductions have been going on for thousands of years throughout history. Even before the Internet and twenty-four hour television stations, people who made these reports made remarkably similar statements regarding their experience.
While some are more believable than others, all of them are interesting, so in no particular order and with your bowl of salt at the ready for when you need a pinch or two, here are just ten random cases from the last fifty years or so.

1 - Ilkley Moor Incident, Yorkshire
Initially the Ilkley Moor UFO sighting was thought to be just that – a sighting of an unidentified object on the morning of 1st December 1987. However upon further investigation it seemed to be an alien abduction that took place over the Yorkshire Moors.
Although it isn’t his real name, the person involved is referred to as “former policeman Phillip Spencer” who on that morning was setting off from Ilkley to visit his father-in-law in East Morton to take pictures of the Moor.
During his journey while driving up a steep hillside Spencer became aware of a humming sound around his vehicle which he assumed to be a low flying aircraft. As he looked around he noticed a small figure off to his left who seemed to be running up an overgrown quarry. Spencer shouted out to the figure, who appeared to hear him and then seemed to “wave him off.”
Realising he had his camera, Spencer managed to get one clear shot of the creature before it vanished over an outcrop. He left his car and proceed to climb the quarry in search of what he had just seen. As he reached the top of the hill and the outcrop where the being had disappeared, he was confronted with what he described as a “huge silver disk shaped object.”
The disk rose above him and then shot away at speed.
Deciding to return straight back to Ilkley following his encounter he proceeded back the way he had come. However when he reached his village he noticed shops were all open and trading. He realised it was after 10am – he had “lost” nearly three hours.
The picture he had snapped was developed and analysed by experts – all of which agreed that at the very least the photograph itself was not tampered with.
In the days following the event, Spencer began to have strange, vivid dreams, and still could not recall the missing three hours after seeing the silver disk in the sky. This led him to suggest and seek, hypnotic regression.
During his sessions it was revealed that he had been “lifted” on to the craft by an unknown force and found himself in a medical looking room – he was told “not to be afraid.” He also stated that at one point during the “journey” he could see what looked to be a portal and through it he could see what he recognised as Earth in the distance, leading him to realise he was in outer space.
The case has been examined by numerous UFOlogists.
Spencer still refuses to allow his real name to be used and, interestingly he has refused all money he has been offered to sell his story.

2 - Elizabeth Klarer
In one of the more outlandish and, perhaps rightfully suspicious claims are those from Elizabeth Klarer from South Africa who made claims of not so much Alien Abduction, but Alien interaction. In the early 1950s she stated that she had been receiving telepathic messages from Akon a “friendly alien” since childhood.
On 7th April 1956 Klarer said that she “called down” Akon’s scout-ship and was subsequently taken aboard the mothership which then took them to Akon’s home, Meton, which she said orbited in the nearby star system Alpha Centauri.
There she claimed the two of them had sex and she became pregnant, eventually giving birth to a son, who would remain in Meton with his father while Klarer would return home to Earth.
Her claims were treated with scepticism by most, particularly as they were very similar to the sci-fi books by George Adamski “Flying Saucers Have Landed” and “Inside The Space Ships”, both of which Klarer readily stated she had read in the immediate run-up to her claims and that it was these books that had triggered these memories and her ability to communicate.
You can read in more depth of Klarer’s claims here.
3 - Betty and Barny Hill
Perhaps one of the most famous alien abduction claims comes from Betty and Barney Hill, who claim they were abducted from a rural area of New Hampshire on the east coast of America and taken aboard a space ship where numerous experiments were done on each of them. They stated that these events took place across 19th to 20th September 1961.
A mixed race couple in a time when this was not considered the norm – you can hardly suspect the Hill’s of looking for publicity. Quite the contrary both were considered leaders in their community and essentially very credible witnesses – perhaps the most credible of all the alien abduction claims.
While travelling home to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the couple witnessed a bright light in the sky – distant at first but appeared to be getting steadily bigger. At Betty’s urging to get a closer look as well as to walk their dog, Barney pulled over the car in a picnic area just south of Twin Mountain.
Through binoculars Betty began to observe the object – seeing that it appeared to have multi-coloured lights on it and was “odd-shaped.”
Suddenly the craft rapidly descended in their direction, which caused the couple to quickly get back in their car and proceed on their journey.
As they drove they stated the object continued to gain on them and appeared to be actively pursuing them before it again rapidly descended downwards and forced Barney to stop the car in the middle of the highway as it was “parked” directly in front of them.
Barney claimed he could see around ten “humanoid” figures staring out of what seemed to be a window in the craft and that one of the figures communicated with him, telepathically, allegedly telling him "stay where you are and keep looking."
Barney claimed that he was filled with fear and yelled to his wife "They're going to capture us!" before leaping back in the car and speeding off away from the craft.
The couple then heard what they described as “beeping or buzzing” sounds hitting the vehicle before a tingling sensation spread throughout both of their bodies. The car itself felt as though it was “vibrating.” Around this time their memories seemed to become patchy.
They were brought back to consciousness by the same “beeping and buzzing” sounds they had heard before and discovered they had traveled nearly thirty-five miles with no memory of doing so.
Once home the couple attempted to gather their thoughts. Both sensed a feeling of anxiety about the experience, and Betty in particular began to experience vivid dreams about the encounter in the days that followed.
Eventually through hypnosis, the pair revealed strikingly similar stories – that they had been taken aboard the ship and had been experimented on and examined thoroughly, with skin, blood and sperm and egg samples taken from them.
Barney again recalled that the beings spoke to him through “thought transfer” (telepathy) and that they told them they (he and his wife) would not be hurt, not to be afraid and to “close their eyes” – Barney in particular seemed to recall that their eyes seemed “to enter his mind” and that they were “hypnotic.”
4 - Allagash Abduction
Through hypnotic regression, four young men, Jim Weiner, Jack Weiner, Charles Foltz and Charles Rak, claimed that on 20th August 1976 they were abducted by four-fingered aliens with almond shaped eyes, and had experiments performed on them.
They were camping along the Allagash River in Maine, and after building a fire on the bank set out in a small boat to fish for trout on the lake.
Rak soon became very uneasy and stated to the others he felt like he was being watched.
Out of nowhere a “spherical light” appeared in the sky and began to descend on the campers. They attempted to row to the bank but the object "caught them in it’s light."
The next thing they realised they were on the bank near their fire – but it had now all but burned down to embers. They had only been on the water for twenty minutes but the fire seemed as though it had burnt out hours ago. Slowly they realised that it had. They had been "away" for several hours and had no memory of it.
Years later in the late 1980s, while in hospital for an unrelated injury, Jim Weiner confided in doctors that he was having trouble sleeping as he felt he was being visited during the night by “non-human entities.” He was convinced it was connected to the night he and his three friends saw the glowing sphere on the lake.
Under Robert E. Fowler of MUFON all four men were hypnotically regressed to seek what had happened that evening in 1976.
All four men described being taken on to the spaceship and having examinations and skin, hair and sperm samples taken. They were then taken to a room that featured a “circular portal” that they were made to go through. They found themselves outside the craft after entering the portal and were soon on the bank near their fire.
Due to the infamous “Travis Walton” case having happened less than a year earlier, and the Pascagoula River Incident two years before that, many were automatically suspicious of the young men, but their case remains one of the most examined in history.
5 - Travis Walton
Perhaps one of more well known cases of alleged alien abduction, not least because his story was made into a film “Fire In The Sky”, was the case of the aforementioned Travis Walton.
Walton was a logger and was working with his team in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in Arizona. On 5th November 1975 while on their way home from their shift, the group came across a bright object that was hovering in a clearing in the woods.
Despite protestations from his fellow loggers, Walton exited the truck and went closer to the craft. They stated later that they then heard the object make a noise similar to a large turbine and that it appeared to shake from side-to-side.
Walton began to back away from the glowing craft before members of the logging group later recalled a blue-green light came from the object and struck him. In his book “The UFO Book” author Jerome Clark wrote of the incident that the logging team stated Walton "rose a foot into the air, his arms and legs outstretched, and shot back stiffly some 10 feet, all the while caught in the glow of the light. His right shoulder hit the earth, and his body sprawled limply over the ground."
Despite a huge police search for him he seemingly had vanished. As days went on suspicion began to fall on the logging crew and they agreed to take lie detector tests – all passed leading the authorities and experts alike that, at least in their own minds, they were telling the truth.
Walton reappeared five days after he went missing, and although he had lost obvious weight he seemed in reasonable condition. He stated that he had been taken aboard their ship and had been examined and probed. He also stated that he saw what looked like other humans almost suspended in "hives".
Opinions as to whether he and the logging team were telling the truth is still split and remains one of the most interesting abduction cases to date.

6 - Betty Andreasson
Not to be confused with the aforementioned Betty Hill, Betty Andreasson claimed she was abducted from her home in Ashburnham, Massachusetts on 25th January 1967.
She stated that a strange, bright light appeared outside the house and she and her father saw strange “beings” approaching the home. These beings entered the property by “going through the walls” at which point Betty’s memories of the incident stop.
Several years later in 1977 after reporting the incident to MUFON, Andreasson underwent hypnotic regression to recover her memories of that evening.
Betty “remembered” that she was taken on board the spaceship (the source of the light outside) where she was introduced to a “grey alien type" who stated his name was Quazgaa – this last point seemed to raise alarm bells for some as very few abduction cases have involved any aliens revealing names to the abductee.
Betty recalled that the beings called themselves “Watchers” who had always co-existed with mankind. She even stated that the abductions were taking place so they could study environmental effects on the human body.
Many agree that the Andreasson claims are some of the stranger abductions accounts and UFOlogist and author Robert E. Fowler has documented them in “The Andreasson Affair” book series – interesting reading.

7 - Frederick Valentich
On 21st October 1978, twenty-year old pilot Frederick Valentich vanished while flying over the Bass Strait in Australia after making reports to the flight control tower of an unidentified object flying around his plane. The conversation was captured and recorded on the recording equipment at the tower.
Valentich stated he could see bright lights that were blinding him and that the object was flying directly over his plane. He claimed that the object was shiny and metal and appeared to have a green light on it. He went on to state that it appeared to be “orbiting” him.
When asked what the aircraft was, Valnetich replied “It’s not an aircraft!”
As these last words came over the radio they were cut off by a cacophony of noise that sound like “metal, scrapping sounds” before contact was lost completely.
Incidentally there were numerous reports of UFO sightings in that part of Australia on the evening that Valentich disappeared, with many of the descriptions from witnesses stating seeing "an erratically moving green light in the sky." Others though claim that the lights he saw was likely to be the reflection of the sun on the water, and it was this that disorientated the young pilot.
Nothing of his plane, or his body has ever been found!
8 - Robert Taylor and the Livingston Incident /Dechmont Woods Encounter
On 9th November 1979 in Livingstone, West Lothian, Scotland, forester Robert Taylor returned home to his family from a trip with his clothes torn and with cuts to his chin and thighs, claiming he had encountered a “flying dome” that had tried to pull him aboard.
He claimed that he had pulled up his truck on the side of the road near the M8 motorway in order to take his dog for a walk before carrying on with his journey home.
Around five hundred yards from his truck Taylor stated he saw a large “dome” floating above the forest and that it had "a dark metallic material with a rough texture like sandpaper" and was approximately six meters long.
Taylor said that he could sense a smell like “burning brakes” and that he could feel himself being “seized” and “pulled towards” the object. He fought against this but then stated that he must of blacked out as the next memory he had was waking in the clearing, the object now gone. He found his way back to his car but was unable to start it and so walked the remainder of the journey home.
Ufologist and author Malcolm Robinson goes as far as to say that he believes Taylor’s account and that "it could be one of the few genuine cases of a UFO encounter"
Incidentally, as a report was made to police, who treated the matter as “common assault” this is the “only example of an alien sighting becoming the subject of a criminal investigation." You can read in a little more detail about Robert Taylor’s alleged encounter here.

9 - Pascaguola River Incident
On 11th October 1973, co-workers 42-year-old Charles Hickson and 19-year-old Calvin Parker were fishing in the Pascagoula River in Jackson, Mississippi when they claimed they saw an oval shaped object around thirty to forty foot wide with two blue lights on it.
Both men stated they were "conscious but paralyzed" and were taken aboard the craft and subjected to a thorough body examination before being released back on to the pier where they had previously been. They made their claims in the first instance to Jackson County Police.
Within days the area was awash with UFOlogists and journalists as the story went international.
Sceptics argued that although Hickson had passed a lie detector test regarding his claims, that it was administered by an inexperienced operator, and Hickson’s refusal to take the test again should throw doubt on his claims. Regarding the young and perhaps more impressionable Parker it was put forward that “suggestibility” was responsible for his version of events, as by his own words, he had “passed out” early in the experience.
10 - Meng Zhaoguo
In 1994 Meng Zhaoguo claimed that he and a relative followed what they thought to be a weather balloon into the Red Flag Forest, China. When they finally arrived upon the object they found that it was, according to their recollection, a “space-craft” with several ten-foot tall aliens stood by it.
The two fled the scene but Zhaoguo would report what he said was “ongoing harassment” from the beings, and claims he was eventually taken aboard their craft and “forced to copulate.” On another occasion in July of the same year, he was abducted from his house and "flown to Mars", which he stated he was told was the beings home planet.
His reports have been examined by UFO experts and enthusiasts alike, with mixed findings. Most believe the initial contact probably did take place, but only some believe the authenticity of the stories that followed.
