The Perverse Theatre And “Religious Pulse” Of Discreet Extreme Ideology
When we think of the Dark Ages, most of us will likely think of The Church and the unwavering and invasive control they once had over great swathes of the population around the world, not least throughout Europe and the immediate surrounding areas.
By the time the twentieth century was upon humanity, we were approximately 100 years into a new collectively liberal and progressive mindset. And perhaps because of this, that same collective would almost sleepwalk themselves into arguably the bloodiest wars in recent history.

A Void Gifted To Opportunism
Following the bloodshed that would occur during the First World War, a void opened up around humanity. The progressive future that had existed only several years previously was now in tatters. Furthermore, this was a void that The Church could no longer fill. And through a refusal to embrace the change of the modern world of the Enlightenment, hadn’t been able to for some time. In its place, political opportunists would move in.
These political ideologies based on the alleged forward-thinking of Communism, for example, that, in theory, ensured that all members of the population had food and shelter, would prove ultimately not enough for the human spirit. As we will examine later, while the shortsighted blind ideology of communism (and all of its subsequent alternative levels of such an ideology) would unravel slowly, another much more brutal but immediately gratifying ideology, based on controlling the mentally weak through easy to remember mantras would surface throughout much of Europe throughout the 1930s, most predominantly in Germany.
As Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, and Henry Lincoln mention in their book The Messianic Legacy, these two apparently opposing political ideologies essentially became “substitute faiths”. They would write:

“… And with the failure of organized religion to offer any solutions to the crisis of meaning, the people, understandably, looked elsewhere! As a result, two new principles emerged and began to assume the all-encompassing status of a religion!”
Essentially, these two new “religions” were Communism - which had already taken hold in the former Russia and now (then) Soviet Union - and Nazism, which was brewing quietly under the seemingly unbalanced liberal-left mindset that, like The Church, refused to contemplate the resentment that was reaching a deadly boiling point.
And while they appear on the surface to be at opposing ends of the political spectrum, as the many treaties between the two regimes in the years leading up to the Second World War as well as the twin-invasion of Poland in September 1939 would show, these opposing (and extreme) political ideologies had more in common than we might think. And plenty of backscratching would take place during this time.
Before we examine this aftermath of the Russian Revolution the video below looks at this crucial moment in twentieth-century history.

The Failure Of Communism To Reach Hearts And Minds
Following the Marxist-Lenin experiment that resulted in the Soviet Union and would ultimately lead to years of poverty, a seething underlying resentment confused so much by the constant double-speak of those in charge that it would matter not that such resentment was exorcised against the correct people, just that it was exorcised.
In fact, both Lenin and Stalin after him had connections in their thought process to ideals that were certainly against the apparent ideals of communism. Lenin, for example, despite his outward rejection of organized religions, would essentially use the same approach as any religion of the past. What’s more, it appeared, as the previously mentioned authors of The Messianic Legacy would state, that “Lenin’s thought owes more to Bakunin than Marx”.
Mikhail Bakunin was not only highly critical of all forms of government (which he claimed would ultimately always become an oppressor) he was a self-confessed Satanist and believed very strongly that Satan was “the spiritual head of revolutionaries”. Furthermore, like Bakunin, Lenin was very much an “apocalyptic zealot”, using such threats of “end times” and the “evils of the western world” against his own people to guarantee their strict and unquestioning adherence.
Stalin, on the other hand, had trained as a priest in his early years, as well as spending considerable time with renowned spiritualist, G.I. Gurdjieff. Like Lenin, Stalin would use the methods of The Church and the “religious pulse” to continue to rule the Soviet population with an iron hand.
In short, while both men were likely very truthful in their outward rejection of all religions, they were each willing, and remarkably adept at using the same methods of control as The Church had done for hundreds of years during the Dark Ages.

In fact, following Lenin’s death, Stalin would essentially use religious-type methods to almost deify the one-time Russian revolutionary. Furthermore, as the authors of The Messianic Legacy would highlight, even the words of commitment from party members had the feel of prayer, with the often-repeated line of “We vow to thee Comrade Lenin, that we will honorably fulfill this thy commandment” eventually taking root in the minds of those repeating it that they would often believe such notions were their own thoughts.
These notions were further backed up by the almost ritual nature of the admission into the Communist Party, and further still by allowing a youth movement that would administer children as young as 9-years-old and act very much as a “coming of age” moment for the youngsters. Following these ritualistic admissions into the party, each new member was given a red handkerchief (representing the blood of “martyred revolutionaries”) which they were not only to guard as if it were their most prized and valuable possession but must not let anyone else even touch it. Writing in The Messianic Legacy, the authors would state:

“In its attempt to consolidate its position, both in the Soviet Union and elsewhere, the Communist Party of the 1930s exalted Marxist-Leninist doctrine to religious status. Although it claimed to abolish religion, it sought, in fact, to replace one religion with another!”
However, this approach was almost doomed from the start. In short, those behind Marxist-Leninist ideology “quite simplistically assumed” that the collective population would be enriched and content enough with a “full belly and a creed of logical consistency”. They didn’t however take into account or put any weight into the multiple nuances that make up the human mind, and for want of a better word, the soul.
The Stage-Managed Meticulously Planned Third Reich
By the time Stalin had assumed control of the Soviet Union, just short of two decades after the First World War, in one of the most liberally minded countries in Europe in Germany, the Third Reich led by Adolf Hitler would sweep to power using almost identical methods. It would be a political decision of the German people that would have far-reaching and long-lasting effects not only throughout Europe but around the world. Something the world’s population, whether they realize it or not, are still dealing with now.
Like a discreet town that looks picturesque and serene on the surface until the realization that under the ground nuclear materials are stored just waiting for the right (or indeed wrong) set of circumstances for the whole lot to go up, this is how we are collectively living as we prepare to enter the 2020s, and the reasons for it go back decades at the very least.

In a similar way to the constantly building resentment that would build up behind the Iron Curtain, particularly under the brutal Stalin, the Nazis themselves would use and hijack democracy in their coming to power. And would use that same style of resentment – often created and fostered by the Nazis themselves – in order to then give the masses – the same masses who were seemingly abandoned by The Church among their refusal to adapt to the modern world, as well as by the middle-ground politicians and the general complacency – an outlet to exorcise that resentment.
Perhaps this perverse theatre is best demonstrated by the huge Nazi rallies, most notably the Nuremberg rallies which saw thousands of people hang on every word the new “savior” of Germany, Adolf Hitler, threw at them. Many people who were present at such speeches would state how there was almost a “supernatural” feel to such rallies. That the thousands of people in attendance, were essentially being brainwashed in real-time with every word was seemingly lost on the populace at the time.
The causes of Nazism in Germany in the late-1920s and 1930s leading to the eventual outbreak of the Second World War are particularly nuanced and complex. And would fill entire volumes of books several times over. Indeed, many, many factors were involved, not least the reparations of the First World War as well as the steady (and threatening, at least to many members of the population) rise of Communism.
We will turn again to The Messianic Legacy to examine this further, who state that:

“The most crucial element in any understanding of Nazism is the extent to which it deliberately activated the religious impulse in the German people. It elicited an emotional as well as a cerebral response, uniting, in its own depraved fashion, hearts and minds!”
Indeed, this notion and the meticulous way in which Nazism under the leadership of Adolf Hitler tapped into this collective frustration, should concern us all when we look around the political and social climates in many parts of the Western world today. In the same way as over-zealous parts of the collective western populace scream for rose-tinted “better days” and a return to an era where misplaced national pride resonated with conquests, empire, and a blind and bizarre appreciation of the random nature of where one happens to be born, those pulling the strings of the perception of the Nazi party and what it had to offer “redeemed post-First World War Germany” in the eyes and the souls of the (according to those offering such solace) downtrodden German people.
While similar fascist regimes were already present in Spain and Italy, the rise of German Nazism had such “demonic energy and ferocity”, backed up by a military power that was so far in advance of almost every other military force on the planet, perhaps made such claims of a “1000-year reign” of the planet easily believed and intoxicating to weak and impressionable minds.
Baigent, Leigh, and Lincoln state:

Baigent, Leigh, and Lincoln state:
“The rise of the Third Reich did not simply and more or less “accidentally” happen as a result of one man’s venomous charisma. On the contrary, it was carefully contrived and meticulously orchestrated. With a frightening degree of self-awareness and psychological sophistication, the Nazi Party undertook to activate and manipulate the religious impulse of the German people…It appealed to the heart, to the nervous system, to the unconscious, as well as to the intellect. In order to do so it employed many of religion’s most ancient techniques – elaborate ceremonial, chanting, rhythmic repetition, incantatory oratory, color and light. The notorious Nuremberg rallies were not political rallies of the kind that occur in the West today, but cunningly stage-managed theatre of the kind, for example, that formed an integral component of Greek religious festivals. Everything – the colors of the uniforms and flags, the placement of the spectators, the nocturnal hour, the use of spotlights and floodlights, the sense of timing – was precisely calculated. The film clips depict people intoxicating themselves into a state of rapture and ecstasy using the mantra ‘Sieg Heil’ and doting on the Fuhrer as if he were a deity. The faces of the crowd are stamped with a mindless beatitude, a vacuous, enthralled stupefaction perfectly interchangeable with the faces at a revivalist church meeting!”
What’s more, as the authors argue, and as we see today by many politicians in the West also coming from the extreme platforms, much of the content of these speeches were “banal, childish, repetitious, (and) devoid of substance”. However, the pure energy and a way of telling the masses what they want to hear – to tap into the religious pulse – is what made such speeches so powerful. Not so much the content as the setting and the collective feeling it creates in the unthinking and unquestioning masses.
The reason that we should contemplate the way both the extreme left and right tapped into these religious pulses, particularly the Nazi Party if it hasn’t already become obvious to you if have made it this far, is that the same techniques are being utilized today and to great effect. The wave of populism, regardless of which side of the extreme it comes from, use the same techniques as perfected by the Third Reich. Of taping into the emotions of the masses and manipulating them to carry out their own agenda without realizing they are doing so. Of utilizing mass gatherings of likeminded people so as to discourage descent or even the questioning of their motives. And of accusations of “traitors” to any who refuse to succumb to this new way of thinking.
Above all else, though, the fact that the delivery of these manipulative ideologies is nothing but perverse theatre – fake news and outright lies mixed with blatant attacks on those who attempt to force the wider populace to see things for what they are, as opposed to what they want them to be.
Check out the video below. As difficult as it might be to watch for some, it is morbidly intriguing footage that should truly serve as a warning from history.
